National Op Shop Week 24-31 August
National Op Shop Week is on this week, 24-31 August. Sponsored by Aldi, Op Shop Week is all about encouraging people to donate to op shops and of course shop in them as well. Op Shops taking part include Vinnies, the Salvos, Red Cross, Lifeline, The Smith Family, the RSPCA, the Animal Welfare League, the Asthma Foundation, Anglicare, MS Australia, Uniting Care, Mission Australia’s Big Heart Op Shops and many others.
Over 2,000 op shops are listed on the OpShopWeek.com.au site.
Fathers Day in Wynnum Sunday 7th September
Bandstand Park in Wynnum will see the traditional celebration of Fathers Day on Sunday 7th September, with a program of live jazz music planned from 10.45-4.45 on the day.

Pedal for Peace Sat 13th September
With the support of local bicycle riders, local bike shop (and WynnumCentral Member) Rival Bikes are attempting to break a Guinness Record (see our previous story) with a relay type riding event on an exercise bike in the front of their new shop at 295 Tingal Road Wynnum.
Riders are required to cycle 1km and change over to a new rider within 20 seconds. The record presently stands at 379 riders.
Rival Bikes are looking for local support, to have 400 riders within the 12 hours from 5am – 5pm.

You can register as an individual or with a group. There will be prizes for the fastest rider, best dressed and lots more. Sausage sizzle and drinks available.
All monies raised go to the charity Act for Peace.
