Wynnum bike shop gears up for world record

On Saturday 13th September get yourself down to Rival Bikes’ new shop location at 297 Tingal Road, on the corner of Wilde Street (yes, they’ve moved from their old Glenora Street shop) for their attempt on the Guinness World Record for the most participants in a ‘static cycling relay’. In case you don’t know what this is, it’s a relay race ‘on the spot’ and the current record that Rival Bikes is looking to beat is 379 riders in 12 hours. According to the rules, each cyclist must ride at least 1km between 5am and 5pm on the day, with riders taking no more than 20 seconds to change over.

At the same time Rival Bikes is raising money for Act For Peace (actforpeace.org.au), plus for every $50 raised in sponsorship participants go into a draw for 15 great (and we presume bike related) prizes. The event is called ‘Pedal for Peace’ and you can find out more about it on Rival Bikes’ Facebook page.
