Wynnum volunteer finalist in national pageant

Imogen Dubbels volunteers in the local community, including working every Wednesday at the Do-Op op shop in Florence Street in Wynnum Central. She advocates for the prevention of domestic violence and youth mental health and is currently involved in a project sewing 500 scrunchies made from upcycled unwanted clothing to sell at the Manly markets, with all profits going towards fundraising for youth mental health.

She is also a Miss Teen Galaxy Australia National Finalist (already holding the title of Miss Teen Manly West), competing at the national pageant final being held in Bankstown in Sydney April 30 – May 3.

Australian Galaxy Pageants are a little different from the better known beauty pageants such as Miss World and Miss Universe.

Their mission is to ‘provide a platform for girls and women to become the best version of themselves through confidence-building, community involvement and personal development opportunities’.

Their pageants are also open to a wider range of contestants, with there in fact being four pageants every year – Miss Teen Galaxy Australia (aged 14-18), Miss Galaxy Australia (aged 19-27), Ms Galaxy Australia (aged 28+) and Mrs Galaxy (aged 19+).

We wish Imogen all the best in the competition!
