The Coffee Club in Wynnum closes its doors

The Coffee Club has been a fixture in Wynnum for seven years and just in the past few days they have shut their doors permanently, citing an inability to agree lease terms with their landlord during negotiations to renew their lease at the Wynnum Central location on Bay Terrace.

As John and Kath Shepherd say in their note in the window…

“Unfortunately we have not been able to agree on new lease terms and we will be permanently closed from 28th August 2023. We thank all our loyal customers who will be surely missed. You can visit us and the team at the Tingalpa Coffee Club, we look forward to seeing you again! John, Kath & Family”

John Shepherd explained that he was ‘gutted’, particularly due to the fact that, although they have been able to transfer four employees to the other Coffee Club outlet in Tingalpa, they are having to let eight team members go. He also referred to the tough times that all small businesses have had to navigate both during and after the COVID pandemic and especially the rising costs involved in running a business.

They continue to run the Coffee Club in Tingalpa, which is both a drive through and a sit down cafe.

The Coffee Club Wynnum was a long time supporter of this website and member of Wynnum Business (now renamed Brisbane Business Bayside).
