Quite a few changes at Wynnum Shopping Centre

Wynnum Shopping Centre aka the IGA centre (if you’ve been in Wynnum long enough to remember when it was) has had a quite a few changes recently.

The Printing Well print and copy shop, who used to be tucked away at the top of the travelators in the centre have moved out and are now based at the Preston Road (or ‘Corner House’) roundabout between Johnson Real Estate and the Zen Barista cafe. They have plenty of parking!

Miss Mexicana has rebranded to Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant and is part of a small chain of Mexican restaurants with two other locations in Jindalee and Newmarket.

At the moment only the restaurant upstairs is open, but the bar at street level will open soon. Pepe’s are fully licensed and open 4pm-9pm Monday-Thursday, 11am until late Friday, Saturday, and 11am-9pm on Sunday (+all public holidays 4pm-9pm except Christmas Day and Australia Day).

The biggest change however is that the Wynnum Centrelink office has moved from its previous location in Tingal Road into the large space previously occupied by the Wynnum Events Centre and before that Fun Fit Play.

Where the toilets were

The upshot of all of the remodelling and new occupants is that – temporarily – there are currently no toilet facilities for the general public. Even though the toilets there were never technically ‘public’ (and are still for the use of centre patrons only) they were somewhere you could go if you were in that part of town. For the time being your only option is the public toilet in the Woolworths/Wynnum Library building at the other end of Florence Street. The new toilet facilities will be open in the next few weeks.

Carry Om Yoga has also moved out. Apart from that all other occupants remain.
