This map tells the story

In a museum in Woodford (between Brisbane and the Sunshine cCoast) there is a map which show the development of the Brisbane area as it was in 1977. What is most apparent is how separate Wynnum is from the rest of the development of Brisbane itself and in fact how large Wynnum is compared to any of the other satellite developments around Brisbane. Wynnum really is a quite separate and distinct place!

And… as WynnumCentral was reliably informed recently by a teacher of long standing in the community, a teacher training posting from Brisbane to Wynnum used to be classified as a ‘rural’ posting. Those were the days.
