The little Wynnum shopping centre you probably drive past almost every day!

You probably drive past it pretty regularly, either on your way to a large shopping complex in Wynnum West (!) or maybe on your way into Brisbane from Wynnum.

We’re talking about the Wynnum West Shopping Centre, which is just on the traffic lights at the corner of Randall Road and Wynnum Road – where FoodWorks and Domino’s Pizza are.

There has been a shopping centre on the site since the 1950s (main photo from the 90s) and today it has a supermarket and a bakery, an array of fast food options as well as a doctors surgery, a dentists (Bastow & Chye Complete Dental) and a pharmacy (HealthSAVE) as well as a barber shop. There’s even a tutoring business and in the FoodWorks a Charlies Raw Squeeze that serves coffee as a well as a range of gluten free and vegan treats.

One of the reasons it’s so popular is that many of the outlets open late, with FoodWorks for example open until 10pm every night.

This month (August) the centre is running a giveaway with a first prize valued at $1,000 ($500 cash and $500 shopping vouchers). The only catch is – you have to go into one of the outlets at the shopping centre and scan a QR code on the poster to go into the draw. The giveaway finishes at midnight this coming Monday 2nd September so if you want to enter there’s still time. Just!
