School site update

The cost of taking the appeal against Council’s subdivision of the old school site further (see our previous article here), has effectively stopped the mediation/legal process. Although some media coverage focuses on the political involvement of some of the people involved, the issues supported by the Wynnum & Districts Chamber of Commerce focus on community wishes expressed through the consultation process conducted by the Chamber in 2012.

According to an item on the Courier Mail website, Brisbane City Council lifestyle committee chair Krista Adams indicated that the refurbishment of the main school building would be finished by mid 2015. Twenty nine community groups have expressed interest in using the site (including we presume the WynnumCentral Artists-in-Residence project).
