Savoyards putting on Broadway hit Annie
The Savoyards Musical Comedy Society will be opening their performance of “Annie” on
Saturday 27th September at the Iona Performing Arts Centre. The show will run until Saturday 11th October, and over two thousand tickets have already been sold.
Based on a comic strip that debuted in 1924, Annie is one of Broadway’s longest running shows ever, full of great songs and the tale of the Depression-era orphan girl who finds happiness with a grouchy millionaire.
It originally opened on Broadway in 1977 and running for an amazing 2,377 performances. The show has music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and a book by Thomas Meehan.
