Wynnum based group Winnam and the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation are together hosting the NAIDOC Kunjiel Family Fun Day on Saturday 22 July 2017 as part of the annual Quandamooka Festival.
The event will be held at the Wynnum Wading Pool on the Wynnum foreshore from 10am until around 8pm. It is open to the general public and will be a family friendly, alcohol and drug free event.
The Quandamooka Festival* is a unique opportunity to learn more about the sands, seas, lakes, creeks, catchments and creatures found across the Redlands/Moreton Bay islands from the Quandamooka peoples perspective as well as participate in a whole range of activities and events including whale watching cultural tours, Kunjiels (corroborees), Indigenous sports, eco boat tours, art, weaving, bush tucker dinning experiences, speaker’s forums and symposiums and collaborations with First Nations peoples from around the world.
Come along and join the fun, and if you’d like to volunteer or want more information about the day, contact the Winnam Aboriginal Corporation on 07 3396 3431.
*the Quandamooka Festival – celebrating culture, country & people – is an annual three month calendar of events from July to September happening in Brisbane’s Redlands and Southern Moreton Bay islands region including key events on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island)
