Local artist holding art event to support farmers

This weekend coming – Sat 22nd and Sun 23rd September – George Hartnett Funerals in Bay Terrace will be hosting the Hay Drive Art Event in their function room, organised by Brisbane artist Michelle Bowden to raise funds for farmers affected by the drought.

The Hay Drive will feature over 50 artworks, all of which have been donated by mostly local artists (with some pieces coming from Warwick and NSW) and will be for sale in a silent auction over the weekend. All proceeds will go to buy hay bales for farmers. Their target is to raise enough for at least a trailer load of hay, which costs $5,700.

Jennifer from the Wynnum Manly Arts group (organisers of the recent Art in Florence event) is also helping to curate the pop-up gallery and has donated some of her own art.

The weekend event will feature art sales, live music, champagne and more!

It’s on from 2.30-6.30 on the Saturday and from 10am-12.30pm on the Sunday and entry is $5 per person on each day.
