The Bayside South Development Forum (BSDF) is urging local community groups, organisations and businesses to help create a better local economy and rejuvenate the Bayside business scene.
Forum treasurer Robyn Howard said the Bayside had a lot of good businesses and services on offer, yet many were struggling with limited access to funding for community initiatives and supporting resources.
“The solution is to draw on the wealth of business knowledge, experience, skills and networks that already exist in our community to make things happen,” she said.
“This is what the forum is all about. We are a business and community support group, voluntarily working to foster local economic growth, create community connections, share information and promote innovative ideas.
“We would like community groups and small businesses to know we are here to help. Of course, the more support we have, the more we can achieve.”
Mrs Howard said BSDF was actively expanding its membership base to meet the challenge.
“We have a great new website (www.bsdf.org) full of information and are planning a number of community and business support events over the next six months – starting with a photographic competition to create a library of wonderful images of the Wynnum Manly area at work and play,” she said.
Bayside South Development Forum has had a number of successes since it was formed in 2001, including the Bayside Women in Business network that has over 200 members.
“It’s ideas like this that are benefiting the community and we encourage more people to become involved with the forum to share their ideas on how we can become a closer knit community and an even better place to live and work,” Mrs Howard said.
The forum will have an information stand at the Wynnum Central Art, Craft, Vintage, Retro Market on Saturday July 5 where you can join BSDF and find out more about its activities.
