Fete de la Musique set to transform Edith Street

Sat 21st June is shaping up to be a very big day in Wynnum. The inaugural Illuminations Festival will run from midday until 9pm, with a lantern parade at dusk from the old Wynnum Central School site, down Edith Street to the waterfront.

As we mentioned here , it coincides with the international Fete de la Musique music festival, held in over 100 countries around the world. WynnumCentral has registered Edith Street as a venue for Fete de la Musique and we are aiming to get over 50 performers to play in Edith Street on that day, from midday until around 5pm, and then continue the musical celebrations down at the Illuminations Festival at the wading pool on the waterfront.

If you are a musician or music act who would like to play on the day, register via the ‘Book Your Spot’ button below. Fete de la Musique operates on a ‘no money changes hands’ basis, ie no musicians are paid to play on the day, and there is no busking as such, and no venues can charge entry.

We’re hoping to have a mainly acoustic feel to the day, although there will be some power available for small amps and instruments. Once you’ve booked in, we’ll be in touch nearer the day to get everything organised.
