Back in 2000 the Wynnum central shopping area – mainly Edith Street – got a makeover which introduced the current set back car parking and the little sculptures up and down the street. Apparently it cost $1M (although also according to rumour only half of this actually got spent on the street – the other half allegedly went in consultants’ fees).
Anyway, here we are thirteen years on and the streetscape is looking a bit tired. What should we do to liven it up. Pete Baines at the Chamber of Commerce has a few ideas. Here’s another idea to brighten up the street – hanging baskets up and down the street.
