CCIQ announces more small business skills workshops in Wynnum

Local chamber of commerce (and WynnumCentral Silver Sponsor) CCIQ Brisbane Bayside will be holding more business skills workshops in early March, starting next Wednesday. With funding from the Federal Small Business Advisory Service, the cost of these two hour workshops is reduced from $90 down to $20 and this pricing is open to any business with less than 20 employees.

These are interactive and in some cases ‘hands on how to’ workshops (ie bring your wifi enabled laptop to learn on the job) and so number are limited to 5 attendees per workshop. Here are the next topics to be covered…

Wed 2nd March 9.30am-11.30am Email Marketing

Email marketing is still the most effective online marketing channel, with some reports showing a $43 return for every $1 spent. This workshop covers all aspects of making email marketing work for your business. We will look at how to put together an email marketing strategy, some important do’s and don’ts, how to stay within the law and a practical demonstration of how to use the MailChimp email marketing system. Bring your laptop along and you could even get your own email out to your list at the workshop!

Wed 9th March 9.30am-11.30am Publicity for the smaller business

Don’t think that just because you run a small business you can’t get media coverage. In this workshop you will get some practical guidance on how to see what a journalist will think is newsworthy about what you do. Workshop leader David Bateson has achieved millions of dollars worth of publicity for his clients over many years and will be sharing some of the insider secrets in this workshop.

Wed 16th March 9.30am-11.30am Getting Google to work for your business – SEO and SEM

Getting to the top of the Google search engine rankings is something all businesses want to do. However Google is forever changing its algorithm and so is moving the goalposts all the time. This workshop will run through some of the basic principles of ‘search engine optimisation’ and cover off all the things you need to do to rank well in Google. We will also cover ‘search engine marketing’ ie paying for ads using Google AdWords in some depth and look at some of the new ways you can target your prospects, get them to your website and sell more.
