Did you come down to the Edith Street market last Saturday? There were over sixty stalls selling a whole range of items, from artists with original artworks to jewellery to retro fashions, along with a very wide selection of food, from the Men’s Shed sausage sizzle to Kenyan and Fijian cuisine.
We held the treasure hunt again and ran Wynnum ‘Happy Hour’ for the first time. Those marketgoers who spent $10 at participating retailers between 12pm and 1pm got a $10 WynnumCentral shopping voucher – $20 of value for $10 cash!
Turnout for the vintage/retro fashion parade at the end of the market was a little lower than expected… OK – we only got four people, but they were all beautifully decked out, and they all walked away prizewinners.
Grandmother/granddaughter Joan from Wynnum and Charlee from Rochedale South looked beautiful in their vintage finery (picture in slideshow above), with Charlee wearing the same dress her mother had worn at her school formal in 1991! And Ike and his partner livened up proceedings, as they always do (also pictured).
We have had a couple of calls from marketgoers wanting to get in contact with stallholders and in most cases we’ve been able to help out. Shortly we’ll be updating our list of stallholders on the website with links through to their websites, Facebook pages and online shops so you won’t have to wait until the next market (on Sat 1st February) if you want to buy something from them.
As we now have Council permission to run the monthly art/craft/vintage/retro market in Edith Street, mark the first Saturday of every month in your diary!
