A life with flowers

Meet Rosslyn from Aaalora Florist

UPDATE: Rosslyn (Ros) tragically passed away recently – read more here: Vale Ros Price

Meet Rosslyn from Aaalora Florist in Edith Street. Rosslyn has been involved with flowers (as a florist) for over 30 years, 20 of them here in Wynnum, so it’s safe to say she knows a thing or two about them!

That’s right, the name is spelled with three ‘a’s and there’s some conjecture as to whether it stood for A Aalora – maybe connected to the Italian word ‘allora’ which loosely translates to ‘then’ or ‘well, then’, or whether it was just a way to get listed at the top in the Yellow Pages, when anyone cared about that! Rosslyn doesn’t know, as she bought the business off the people who named it.

When it comes to choosing flowers for Winter, she suggests tulips, stock and jonquils. All flowers from Aaalora come with little food packets and instructions as to how to keep them fresh for as long as possible. And – in case you’re wondering – most flowers on sale are grown locally, it’s only if there is a special request and those flowers can’t be sourced locally that they may be sourced from further afield.

Rosslyn and her team are open at Aaalora’s Monday to Thursday 8am-5.30pm and 8m-6pm on Fridays and are contactable on 0481 093823.

Aaalora Florist was a Member of Wynnum Business and a supporter of WynnumCentral.
