Today would have been the 2017 Illuminations Festival

Today would have been the 2017 Illuminations Festival had the organisers been able to raise the funds for the event… or would it? With the amount of rain we have had over the past week, one of the organisers speculated that Brisbane City Council may not have let the event go ahead if the ground in the park was too wet or waterlogged, for fear of damaging the park.

“It’s very possible that council would not have allowed us to proceed with the event due to the recent spell of wet weather.” said organiser David Saunders.

The organisers, Wynnum Manly Events Inc, are now focused on putting on a series of smaller events through the year in or close to Wynnum Central, the first of which is the Laneway Movie Night planned for the evening of Thursday 13th July.
