Corroboree held in Wading Pool

On Saturday 30th July the newly drained Wading Pool, showing an expanse of sand to rival any local beach, played host to the Winnam Kunjiel – a corroborree to celebrate indigenous cultures featuring dance, music, arts, weaving and market stalls.

The event, which ran from 11am-3pm and drew a big crowd, was hosted by the local Quandamooka People who staged some First Nation dance groups to showcase their traditions, as well as free sand art workshops, dance workshops, traditional storytelling and weaving by Quandamooka artist Sonja Carmichael.
